Wisc-UP Season Events Canceled

Dear Wisc-UP Club members,

I’m writing with the sad news that our entire 2020 schedule of events may be canceled–the Birthday Bash may yet be scheduled.  Emerick’s will decide whether to host it, or not, depending on the state of the pandemic in the fall.

I have decided that because others who know more than me, e.g., The State Fair, World Dairy Expo, Summerfest, have canceled the kind of interaction Road America would have I will not encourage our members to attend the VSCDA Vintage race weekend in September.  We will not attend but I do have paid tickets and camping that I will give to anyone who wants them.

I regret having to send this message but I think it is best for our health and well-being.

See you down the road.

Dear Wisc-UP Members,

On March 23 National President Mona Heath sent a message that you have probably seen.  Her message notified us that The Airstream Club Executive Committee has recommended that each region and club “…cancel all planned events for at least the next 60 days, or longer as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

Mona’s message is posted below.

Wisc-UP will comply with this request.  All events on our schedule through May 22, 2020 have been canceled.  John has processed refunds to those who have paid for events.  Event Schedule

I know we all hope that life will return to something like normal soon and that we will be able to continue the remaining events planned for this season.  Our ability to do this depends on the how the pandemic develops.

For now, please stay home and stay well.

Best regards,

Note from Mona Heath

March 23, 2020

As we continue to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential impact on our members, the speed and platform(s) with which we communicate are of the utmost priority.  Beginning March 13, a series of email communications to our members, along with leadership conference calls, led to the unanimous decision of the Executive Committee (EC) to cancel the Loveland2020 International Rally.

Region Officers are working with their local clubs in support of the EC recommendation to cancel all planned events for at least the next 60 days, or longer as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  Currently, seven (7) of our 12 region rallies have been cancelled or have not yet been scheduled, with the remaining five (5) scheduled between mid-July through late-October.

Jay Thompson, International Caravan Standing Committee Chair, is in close contact with Caravan Leaders and posted an update on Facebook last Friday.  Following is an excerpt of that post:  “We are not planning to cancel every national caravan at this time as some are scheduled many months away. We are monitoring the timing and possible effects of government recommendations and directives as well as a safe and common-sense appraisal of travel on the caravan.  “Will it be a safe and fun experience for everyone?”

On a related note, the Governor of the State of Ohio has issued a Stay At Home Order for all non-essential businesses effective 11:59am March 23 through April 6.  The Headquarters team will be in the office today developing a work at home plan and will be working remotely with some services limited or delayed.  Thank you in advance for respecting their workspace today, and patience with any unique challenges they may face while working remotely.

This level of disruption, and the absolute need for caution, is unsurpassed in recent memory; however, it is necessary.  I am absolutely confident that our leaders, at all levels, have the best interest of our members in mind. Furthermore, I am absolutely confident that our 2019-2020 International leadership team has been, and will continue to, put our members’ safety first.

Wishing you all safe and healthy travels and look forward to seeing you down the road.

Mona Heath, International President

Rose Parade Rally

The Dec 28, 2020 Rose Bowl Parade Rally is scheduled to be the last one. They are currently accepting registrations only from first time attendees. The slots are about half full. If this rally is on your bucket list get signed up. They only take about 28 rigs. We did it a couple of years ago. It was great.
Here’s a link to the Rally Event page if you are interested:

R7 2020 Rally

Here is your access to information about the 2020 Region 7 Rally being held in Marquette, MI August 20 – 25, 2020.

We have 55 campsites already spoken for– so the next step for those Airstreamers will be to pay the rally fee.

You may pay your Rally Fee by going to the Region 7 website and selecting one of the listed options.

You will receive a confirmation for your payment, a duplicate of the information you entered, and a great big Thank You from your Region Treasurer, Gail Harrower.

It is an easy way for you to pay and definitely makes our work as rally planners much easier.

So pay and relax. Check out the R7 Website where the Rally flyer is available to download. More info with details will be posted as we get closer to the event.

Here’s a taste: One Yooper has offered to donate wood for our community campfires. Guess who? The Minnesota Airstream Club has agreed to provide coffee urns. Wisc-UP Airstream Club will serve dessert one night. And, a member has offered to perform for us.

Just a taste. Please stay tuned for more info at the Region 7 website!
