In just two weeks the International Board of Trustees will be meeting in Robstown, Texas. Region 7 President Joan Lahr will be representing our unit at this meeting. There are two significant issues of which all WBCCI members should be aware.
Bylaws amendments
This year two special committees have been appointed to recommend changes, a Constitution and Bylaws Revision Committee (separate from the standing Constitution and Bylaws Committee) and a Motor Home Study Committee. The report of the Constitution and Bylaws Revision Committee is missing from the agenda, so we do not know what changes will be proposed.
The report of the Motor Home Study Committee contains a paragraph which is cause for concern: “The other alternative would be for a motion be presented to allow any member who owns a current Airstream Motor home to replace it with another brand class A coach.” This is a controversial issue which was rejected by a majority of the membership in 2007. Three Wisconsin Unit members, Sandy Emerick, Ed Emerick, and John Sellers, sent a letter to all members of the IBT, with copies to all unit presidents, regarding this issue.
Constitutional Amendment Proposed by Region 11
Region 11 has proposed a constitutional amendment, following the procedure prescribed by Article XVI of the WBCCI Constitution. The chairman of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee has informed Region 11 that its proposed amendment will “not be allowed to go forward”. The Region 11 President has introduced a motion at the mid-winter IBT asking the IBT to direct the Constitution and Bylaws Committee to perform its duties spelled out by the WBCCI constitution and published policies. The Denver Colorado Unit which originally proposed this amendment has sent several letters to all unit presidents explaining their position.

The Wisconsin Unit is happy to announce this year’s caravan plans will include a wild trip to the Buckeye State to attend Alumapalooza and the Spirit of Cleveland National Rally. Join your hosts Ed & Sandy Emerick on this exciting trip to the state of our births as we sample many of the pleasures that Ohio can offer.
The caravan will begin on May 27, 2011 in Appleton, WI and we will begin our travels the following morning. Our route will take us over the top of Michigan as we explore the UP and avoid the Chicago traffic. The trip will include stops in Mackinaw City, Frankenmuth, MI, Port Clinton, OH and finally arriving at Alumapalooza on May 31, 2011. We will stay at that event until the morning of June 5, 2011. We will depart for a stop in Columbus, OH, the Akron, OH area and Cleveland, OH to attend the Spirit of Cleveland National Rally arriving in the late afternoon of June 8, 2011. This rally will run from June 8, 2011 through June 12, 2011 (see the December Blue Beret for additional rally information).
Come explore the great State of Ohio with us as we attend Alumapalooza, one of the finer events for Airstream owners, eat famous Barberton Chicken in the Akron area and tour the Westside Market and the Christmas Story house in Cleveland. We will also have stops in the Tourist Traps of Mackinaw City enjoying their many shops and beautiful views of the bridge and the Christmas town of Frankenmuth, MI with its German style food and brewery. Our stop in Port Clinton offers either peaceful camping on the shores of Lake Erie or in the mayhem and bustle of Cedar Point Amusement Park’s 5 star campground. I will make this reservation depending on the feedback of the attendees, but if you ask me I Cedar point is my favorite campground in the world!
This is a pay as you go caravan, attendees are responsible for make their own reservation at Alumapalooza (go to alumapalooza.com to register) and the Sprit of Cleveland National Rally (coupon available in the December Blue Beret or call Tom Christopher @ 440-953-9559).
